YouTube and Virtual Reality
YouTube began its support for 360 Video in March, 2015. Users can not only browse 360 Videos from their Chrome browsers but also from the YouTube app on their Android or iOS devices. Users can upload 360 Videos from various compatible 360 Cameras. While watching an 360 video, users can drag their mice or use the directional icon in the top left corner to change the perspectives of their view points.
In early June 2015, 360 videos can be viewed from the Google Cardboard. The normally 2D 360 videos can now be transformed into an immersive VR experience. When viewing a YouTube video from the YouTube apps on your smartphone, you can tap the Google Cardboard Icon then insert the smartphone into a Google Cardboard device to activate VR mode.
