OSVR Hacker Dev Kit went on sale on July 6, 2015 at a base price of $199.
[[OSVR HDK2]] is the successor to HKD1. It was announced during E3 2016. Razer has said that you can swap the more advanced HDK2 faceplate to HDK1. It enables HDK1 to have an [[OLED ]] display with 2160 x 1200 [[resolution]], 90 Hz [[refresh rate]] and [[low persistence]].

Hacker Dev Kit or HDK is open sourced just like its software counterpart. Users can freely download its schematics from OSVR's website. With a modular design, HDK is ideal for users who like to build their own devices or make modifications to pre-existing ones. Users to replace older components with newer versions or customize the entire HMD.
