Vuze is a consumer Virtual Reality camera, stereoscopic 3D and 360 degrees, developed by HumanEyes Technologies.

Contents

Introduction

Vuze is the first camera that allows ordinary users, consumers as well as professionals to capture and shoot VR Photos and videos. It is the all-in-one solution to make 360-degree, stereoscopic 3D videos that usually require specialized and sophisticated film-making equipment. The 3D feature of Vuze makes the videos and photos more immersive by adding a sense of depth that is natural to the human eyes and the brain [1].

Once a video or image is captured by the Vuze, it can be directly send to a computer or stored in a memory card. The software of the camera utilizes techniques that enable near real-time processing along with seamless stitching. The company has named this technique ‘adaptive blending’ which mimics the way in which human eyes and brain process information.

Features

The flying saucer-shaped Vuze houses eight full High Definition (HD) cameras with ultra-wide-angle lenses. Each camera has the ability to shoot 120 degrees horizontal and 180 degrees vertical to make a nearly full sphere. Additionally it shoots at 4K resolution at 30 frames per second (fps) and has a variable bit rate of 120 Mbps. The videos are compressed internally in H.264 format to allow ease of post-editing on the computer [2].

According to the company, the Vuze will be compatible with any VR HMDs, in addition to all the devices and software that allow 3D viewing; such as 3D TVs, YouTube and Facebook. The Vuze VR kit includes a headset which is made by Homido. The Vuze is quite lightweight and portable and has various colors which you can choose from, at the time of purchase [3]. The camera dimensions are 120 x 120 x 30 mm and weighs around 250 g. The Vuze comes with a tripod which can also turn into a selfie stick. The battery and SD card of the camera has the ability to capture up to one hour of video.

Price and Launch Date

The exact price of Vuze is not revealed yet but according to the company, it will have a price tag of less than $1000. The Vuze is expected to be launched in August 2016.
