Scienverse

Scienverse is a Social VR platform that provides an open access for both developers and end-users to a variety of VR experiences and integrated external applications. The goal of this project is to make VR more accessible for everybody, no matter which VR platform and the operating system are used.

Features

According to developers of Scienverse, one of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of more widespread adoption of VR technology and applications is their complicated distribution. Each VR platform is compatible only with software that was designed for use with it. Scienverse acts as a virtual hub where developers can publish their VR applications, which will then become available to everyone. These applications should be compatible across different devices and platforms. This gives users the freedom to choose their hardware independently from the available software.

Similar to massively multiplayer online games such as Second Life, Scienverse is set to bring social networking to a new level. Users will have the ability to create their own custom avatars and interact with other participants in a fully 3D virtual environment. The virtual world itself will act as a gateway and meeting platform that enables a seamless transition to many other third-party VR experiences. Kickstarter backers can even own and decorate their VR apartments. After Scienverse’s launch, it will no longer be possible to own properties, only to rent them. A transportation will be taken care of by a set of futuristic vehicles.

Developers

Scienverse is an open-source project compatible with all major operating systems. The team of creators behind Scienverse aims to develop a complete set of tools for managing and developing virtual reality applications with rapid content delivery and platform independent optimization. Scienverse provides developers with up to 92% of their income sales. Additionally, the community-driven system with robust documentation, developer forum, and instant feedback from Scienverse developers should make the whole process of building virtual reality applications much easier and accessible.

Developers retain all rights to their applications and content since Scienverse acts only as a distributional platform. The only caveat is the fact that the application has to be build using Unreal Engine. The final version should be ready for its public launch in the last quarter of 2016.
