High Fidelity is a social VR app/platform that allows users to create their own virtual worlds. Founded by Philip Rosedale, the founder of Second Life, in 2013, High Fidelity allows users to quickly and easily launch and customize their virtual environments. Users can furnish their worlds with 3D models from the likes of Unity Asset Store and devise their own scenarios with Javascript.

High Fidelity servers as the virtual reality successor to Second Life and a launch point for the metaverse.

As of March 2015, High Fidelity has raised 17.5 million dollars in 4 rounds of venture funding.

Features

  • Ability to browse the web.
  • The entire metaverse is editable.
  • Distributed architecture.
  • "Hyperlink" between different worlds (servers) in the metaverse. The hyperlink could be an object like a phone booth that transports the user to another world.[1]
